a little dirty is ok... bumping is racing, but when that purple #4 car purposly ramed the 74 car after the race.. I think thats just no class.. kind of lost all respect for him after that.

compression was checked on the mini stock class last race..... but I see what your saying (might have to do some internet research)

You'd be upset too if you were blatantly wrecked while passing for the lead. I don't condone what he did, but I felt the move had reasoning behind it.

I really don't condone either activity, however, when a car is so blatently faster than the others in a class it creates a scenario where racers begin to police it for you. I knew the four car was going to win the minute it was there. I saw that car run in Ventura, wiped out the field easily (4 laps). The problem is that it is no longer about the driver, it becomes about the car. Miranda has been driving for three years (i think). She is as familar with the Bakersfield track as any other competitor in class. The four car made a great move by diamonding the corner, but how does it have that much more power to make that move. It is a shame that the car was destroyed. What a great race to watch. But expensive I think

james's car appears kind of loose throughout the whole race, (but much much faster)

The last time I watched the races at Bakersfield, I watched a great race. Miranda Dotson got DQ'd for putting the 6 out of Ventura in the fence. It was obvious to me that that car was not legal. However, I saw a lot of cars that I could play with. For me racing has to be on a budget. I can't afford the things that make the cars fast, nor do I think they are legal. However, if that is what is allowed to run that is what you better have brung.

I disagree with most of what you have to say today. And I will allow you to prove me wrong. I consider my car and my self both fast. This is all about having a good car and having the ability to work traffic. You can make the blanket statements about all the fast cars.. but its not true and I dont think its ever been an issue. I dont have a modified computer and if you bring me a stock junkyard computer that works I will gladly plug it in and run with it. It must be from my year and make. Also we have no head work done to our motor. Have no JDM, and if someone were smart they should buy a used 30k motor from Japan for 600-800 bucks then find one in a junkyard with 270,000 miles for 200-400. RWD's didnt get shoved to other tracks.. People stopped building crappy RWDS because they dont win unless you sink a couple grand into them.. Yeah I locked my front end, but I also won last year against the 20 car ( arguably the fastest car around) with my diff unlocked. My car is toe'd out, thats part of figuring out your setup. I have No Aluminum radiator. I have no bars reinforcing my suspension. I have junkyard springs and struts. OF course we bring back up stuff like axles and suspension parts, you'd be a fool not to... You can afford to make a fast car. I have one of the most budget minded cars on the track. The next car I build if I do will probably be built for less than yours. If anyone has any question's about my car come ask me.. Dont call me a cheater. Com'n man when Kelly bought that car from you it still had the Cat converter installed. And as far as Miranda is concerned 3 races in a row she has taken people out at the end of the race first the 4f, next week 11 Mouser, and finally Tina Wheeler on Satuday. But to make it worse regarding Tina, Miranda was actually laps down..

ya it looked like miranda did come up a little bit on tina in the turn. she coulda let up a little bit from what i saw in the stands but hey you never know.

well-- regardless on if she came up or not-- a car 5 laps down shouldnt be attempting to pass the leader 3 wide with 2 to go...

Well arguably the 4 car is one of the fastest on the track, strange for a stock car, but.... definately THE smoothest driver in the class, and like he said that is probably the main reason he runs up front. I don't know who the 20 car was last year, but I beleive the fastest on the track last year would be the 44 who won the championship. As far as the 74 car, If I was driving the 29 car, we would be rolling around in the mud out back!! They almost did the race before with the crew from the 11 car. The 11 crew made it a point to let her know they did not appreciate it. The saga continues.......

Last year the driver of the 20 was Ed Elliott. The 44 car is/was fast, which was also a former Ed Elliott car-- however, that car was horribly inconsistant. I agree that the 20 car was the fastest last year-- he probably could have made a charge at the championship the past few seasons if he would run all the races.

I know for a fact the Winchesters both Billy and Johnny have bone stock cars Johnny (0) Acura integra junker bought from Dotson's towing yard had 193,000 miles, and the Ford probe Billy (13x) came from some fellow Mini Stockers turned Hobby Stockers lots of races on this car. No mods and they have little money invested in their cars running up front. Ask them about their cars and they will candidly tell you what they have in them and its less then you would believe to have a front runner. They also have been running the same cars for years now. They have both improved drastically and their driving skill has brought them to the front. Just my .02.-Ghost.

I think a dyno test is the most ideal way to tech the class. What does it cost to dyno a car? (I really don't know) This would tell exactly what the rpm's are and what the horsepower is. Perhaps a rule that allows competitors to pay for the dyno of a car that they suspect is cheating.
Racers always think someone is cheating to get an advantage (many do).
When the CRX's came in with twin cam motors (this is not sold in the United states) I thought that was cheating.
When the front wheel drives locked the front ends I thought that was cheating.
When Aluminum radiators were being used, I thought that was cheating.
All that being said the track worked through all these modifications. They were all allowed.
I have no problem with that.
I just know what I would now build and what it would cost.
A competitive car costs in the neighborood of 3 - 5000 dollars to build.
Basic car $500.00 You need an integra or prelude
Motor $6 - 800.00 (30,000 mile out of Japan
Cage $ 500 - 2500
Safety equipment (seat, fuel cell belts $500.00
Locking the transmission $200.00 (a guess)
tires $250.00
radiator $200.00
Computer adjustments used to be $400.00, but the right car year can get you out of this necessity.

Most racers find a way to get around some of these costs.
I was blessed with help with my cages.

The rev limiter thing is not an issue if you use larger tires.. You dont need an Aluminum radiator. And you DONT need to lock the front end.. Kelly Nichols never locked the intergas and they were fast.. I like my front end locked because i like the way it handles... I also dont use power steering because I want that extra 1 HP. I would build a prelude. Even an older carbed prelude is worth building.. No computer. Mark Reed flew in that 85-86 carbed prelude... He was untouchable... and these non acura's parts are cheaper and easier to find.

Romans... Ventura only allows 95 or older. You can not run a 96 there. The other difference is the wheel base. Some cars at Bakersfield are to short of a wheel base to run at Ventura.

hey guys, james brown here with that purple 4f car,
as most of you know i ran into a little issue the last time i was there, i think its called the back straight wall anyways, i've been around this stuff for many years. there is always going to be the controversy...it just seems to be part of the deal...i want to first of all apologize for my unprofessional actions after i was very heated after getting taken out... my bad, it was the heat of the moment thing....
i would love to come back and race with you guys, especially you pilati you look like a very fast, smooth and clean driver....but i'm guessing i wore out my welcome up there huh?
anyways, to all of the cheater this and cheater that deal...watch the faster guys car control and smoothness and think about the momentum thing.....my car was obviously slower than the 74 car that night i was there but i've been doing this long enough that i just watched and waited and hoped she would slip up just once and she finally did .... you can do alot with these cars momentum wise... i know for us at ventura we have already been checked for and passed post race inspection for, vacum, cranking compression, porting and/or polishing, throttle body size, etc... my car is the championship car from last year and i've done nothing to it but put purple paint on it when i got it....
the rev limiter issue? hell i don't know but my car is on the limiter in ventura and way soon at bako but it is what it is, it still seems to run ok...
i don't know, i just want to race and have fun and i enjoy racing with a different group of people but i sure didn't mean to piss anyone off so sorry for that guys...
pilati, nice driving job buddy, i watched from the stands for one of your wins and was impressed....

im not saying the 74 car took out anyone intetionally but i have seen it happen on the last couple laps wreck some people. it happened to the purple 4 car the 11 car and the 29 car. maybe the track did have something to do with it i have know clue. i didnt see it happen last weekend though

The purple car and the #74 and a lot of them are NOT on the rev limiter, you can NOT hear them popping down the straight, it is a very distictive sound. If they are running 14" tires you would definately hear the rev limiter kicking in.

I run the purple car and I assure you that I hit the limiter, I run 14in wheels and changed nothing to run bako, I was shocked at how soon the limiter actually kicked in when I got there. I also manage to hit the limiter at our little track in ventura..... there is no way for you to actually hear all the cars unless you talk them into doing a single car qualifying format like they sometimes do at SMS.... then you could truly hear the limiter or lack there of... this can go back and forth forever, everybody has their own opinion..

sounds good to me, SMS used to give 50 or 100$$ to the fastest qualifier.....
